Confirmation
The message below has been received from Mgr. Bradley regarding the celebration of Confirmation.
I hope that the first weeks back in school have been positive ones. I realise how many added pressures you have at this time; you and your schools are in my prayers each day.
There have been a number of enquiries from schools and parishes concerning the celebration of sacraments. As you and your associated schools/parishes seek to form a plan for the coming year, it is good to have some clarity.
As you will be aware, the Holy See has not yet appointed a successor to Archbishop Tartaglia, we wait and pray patiently for them to do so.
As with last year, it is to be assumed that parish clergy will be delegated by the competent authority to confirm our primary seven children. So it is important that schools and parishes now liaise, if they haven’t already done so, concerning a suitable time for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Taking into account, as ever, the required time for preparation.
When we are given a new Archbishop, he will decide what he wishes to do and may choose to confirm children whose celebration is scheduled after his appointment.
Kind regards,
Mgr. Bradley
