Planning for Restarting Mass
Restarting Public Mass
As you will know public worship can restart from Wednesday 15th July. To help get ready for it some Guidance has been attached concerning this. Unfortunately the Government have not yet published their rules on the question, so our Guidance is based on what they have told the Bishops’ Conference and/or said in speeches. This may change when the final version is published, but it was thought better to distribute this just before the weekend, even if it is only provisional. The key points are perhaps that the maximum attendance at Mass is 50, the details of everyone at Mass must be recorded for tracking purposes, and the maximum attendance at a Funeral Mass/Service is 20.
The uncertainty about the details is unfortunate but hopefully the broad outlines will be OK.
There will be further Guidance after the weekend about the mechanics of celebrating Mass under current conditions.
Restarting public Mass is a wonderful thing for our parishes, but it will also be a real challenge so we hope that it goes well for all.
